GUNT HM 163.72 - Sediment Trap

The GUNT HM 163.72 Sediment Trap is designed to study bed-load sediment transport in rivers, canals, and coastal flows. It prevents sediment from entering the pump or flow meter of the HM 163 experimental flume while allowing observation of sediment deposition along the flume bottom.

Product Features

  • Enables experiments on bed-load transport in open channel flows
  • Consists of a sediment trap and bucket for sediment feed
  • Prevents sediment from entering the pump or flow meter of HM 163 flume
  • Near-bottom sediment-laden flow enters the trap where sediment settles and accumulates
  • Sediment-free water continues to the outlet element
  • Sediment is manually removed and returned to the feed
  • Not suitable for suspended load transport
  • Mounted between experimental section and outlet element during setup; cannot be added later

Benefits

  • Protects water circuit components from sediment contamination
  • Allows safe and controlled observation of bed-load transport
  • Supports repeatable sediment transport experiments
  • Durable construction ensures reliable long-term laboratory use

Why Choose GUNT HM 163.72 - Sediment Trap?

The GUNT HM 163.72 Sediment Trap provides a safe and controlled solution for studying bed-load transport in open channels, preventing sediment from contaminating the flow measurement system while allowing manual sediment management.
