GUNT HM 163.71 - Closed Sediment Circuit

The GUNT HM 163.71 Closed Sediment Circuit is designed to study bed-load transport in rivers, canals, and coastal flows. It allows observation of solids moving along the flume bottom under flowing water while keeping the sediment circuit and water circuit of HM 163 separate to prevent contamination of the pump or flow sensors.

Product Features

  • Simulates bed-load sediment transport along the experimental flume
  • Includes a sediment trap, sediment feed, and a pump system to recirculate sediment between experiments
  • Independent sediment and water circuits prevent sediment from entering water circuit pump or flow sensors
  • PLC-controlled sediment pump operated via HM 163 touch screen
  • Screen basket in water tank captures sediment, with pump delivering mixture back to sediment feed
  • Height of sediment feed above flume bottom can be adjusted freely
  • Allows creation of a sediment bed before flowing water is applied
  • Removes sediment after experiments to a screen in a secondary water tank
  • Not suitable for suspended load transport
  • Can be added to HM 163 at any time

Benefits

  • Enables clear observation of bed-load sediment transport
  • Prevents contamination of water flow measurement systems
  • Adjustable sediment feed allows precise experimental conditions
  • Enhances research and teaching in hydraulic sediment transport studies
