Labconco Freeze Dryer Workshop at QUT: Advancing Scientific Research with Freeze-Drying Solutions

Bringing Expertise to the Scientific Community

Last month, John Morris Group, in collaboration with Labconco Corporation, hosted an exclusive Freeze Dryer Workshop at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The session was led by Nathan Richardson from Labconco Corporation, alongside our Product Manager Ozlem Alizart, who together shared deep expertise on the physics and practical applications of freeze-drying technology.

This workshop was part of the Labconco Tour across Australia, where Nathan visited leading research institutions to engage with scientists and demonstrate cutting-edge laboratory equipment. At QUT, participants gained a first-hand understanding of freeze-drying principles, workflows, and innovations that support applications across biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, food science, and academic research.

Why Freeze-Drying Matters in Research

Freeze drying, also known as lyophilisation, is a critical laboratory process for preserving biological samples, pharmaceuticals, and sensitive materials. It allows researchers to:

  • Extend sample stability without damaging structure or integrity

  • Improve storage and transport efficiency

  • Support reproducibility in scientific studies

  • Enable long-term preservation for future research

With Labconco’s advanced freeze-drying solutions, scientists can achieve greater precision, consistency, and reliability in their work.

Hands-On Learning Experience

The QUT workshop provided more than just technical knowledge. Attendees participated in a hands-on demonstration, gaining practical insights into system operation, troubleshooting, and workflow optimisation. This interactive format ensured that participants walked away with actionable skills they can directly apply in their laboratories.

Feedback from the event highlighted the value of face-to-face training and real-world demonstrations, particularly in areas where precision equipment plays a crucial role in research outcomes.

Continuing Our Commitment to Science Together

At John Morris Group, we are committed to supporting researchers and institutions across Australia and New Zealand with world-class laboratory technologies and expertise. Events like the Labconco Freeze Dryer Workshop are part of our ongoing mission to bring scientists closer to the tools and knowledge they need to accelerate discovery and innovation.

A special thank you goes out to everyone who attended the QUT session and contributed to the discussions.
